The fact that two weeks without a game means that the likes of Darren Pratley, Ferrie Bodde and Joe Allen will all be nearer fitness has to be a major comfort to a manager who has been without his midfield – rated as some by the best in the division last year – for all of his tenure at Swansea.
Bodde has been a long term absentee since November last year whilst Pratley has yet to feature this season with Allen having been missing since coming off at Leicester on the opening day. When you also factor in that Rangel, Monk, Dobbie and Pintado also sat out Saturday's draw with Watford and you have the basis of almost another team coming back within the next few games.
And it is factors like that that persuade Sousa to believe that there are better times around the corner for his team who sit in 18th place in the Championship
Speaking to Wales Online, the Swans boss said “We will do something good this season, I don’t doubt that.
“Sometimes we need a bit more time, but I’m not worried.
“The results haven’t come so far, but, when we are together and fit, I know they will.
“We don’t have so many points, that’s true. But we are a strong team with quality in our players and the right spirit, and that’s what is important when you climb the league.
“When you start something new these things happen.
“But, if you understand what has happened in recent weeks, it’s not easy when you change important players.
“We are building, but it takes time. The level I expect from my players will come as soon as possible, though.”
