The youngster was brought up in Portugal and joined Sporting Lisbon, Paulo Sousa’s former club, two years ago at the age of 14.

Da Silva didn’t sign in time to feature for the Swans’ U-18 side against Plymouth at Fairwood tomorrow, but could play some part in next week’s fixture against Torquay United.

“I am delighted to have signed for the club,” the youngster told the Swansea official site.

“It is a really good opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get started.”
