Emyr Huws will complete a move to Eastlands shortly after his 16th birthday – with the Swans fighting to ensure a fair compensation package for the player dubbed 'the next Ryan Giggs'
But the loss of such an important starlet does not put Sousa off investing in the Swans youth side and he told the Western Mail “We can’t be discouraged by this problem
“It is the reality we face and we need to approach it in the right way and find different answers.
“We need to invest in the kids and show people how we bring them from our youth to be involved with the senior team as soon as possible.
“When they go to other clubs it can be hard to get in the first-team but we can give them that chance.
“You need to get some benefit for investing in the player before anyone knew about them.
“Smaller clubs should be rewarded for that belief.
“It’s a difficult situation to handle but you need to have the right balance,” he said.
“When you have some talent the three important factors for a youngster’s development are the exercise and training sessions, the competition in the squad and the level of the teams they play against.
“If you are a talent it is important you compete with other talents of the same standard to ensure you keep on improving.”
