De Vries: I’m Getting Better All The Time

The Dutchman is in his third season at the Liberty Stadium – a third season that back in the summer it did not look as if he may get.

A deadline for signing a new contract had seemingly passed and it looked as if the goalkeeper was on his way out of the Liberty.ย ย  A change of manager and a month or so later and it was a new deal for de Vries – a new deal that he celebrated with his first penalty save of his Swans career in an opening day defeat at Leicester.

And he also believes that he is constantly getting better as a goalkeeper as he told the Western Mail โ€œIโ€™m only 28 and the more you play the better you get

โ€œItโ€™s like a fine wine โ€“ the more it ages, the better it gets.

โ€œThatโ€™s the same with me. My best is definitely yet to come and, while I donโ€™t know where my limit is, I can still improve a lot.

โ€œIโ€™ve been working really hard day in, day out, with the lads, my goalkeeping coach and the gaffer.

โ€œThat way I can progress every little detail of my game and I feel, as I get more experience, Iโ€™m getting better all the time.

โ€œI think the only thing that has changed is that Iโ€™m more and more involved in games now,โ€ he said. โ€œTeams know a certain way to play against us so, while Iโ€™m doing the same things I always did, Iโ€™m a little bit busier now.

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t say Iโ€™m in the form of my career or anything. And, while itโ€™s a good feeling to make important saves for the team, it doesnโ€™t matter if we donโ€™t win.

โ€œThe results will come for us though.

โ€œWe are getting better with every game, training is going well and itโ€™s just getting that final bit of confidence when the wins come.โ€
