The Swans midfielder was in good form yesterday as the team recorded another win by beating QPR 2-0 at the Liberty to enter the next international break in a decent position despite the injury problems that have beset them this season.
That jinx has accounted for Lopez, Allen, Pratley, Bodde and Britton himself already at some stage this season and that is just looking at what you would class as the leading 5 midfielders at the club.
Speaking to Wales on Sunday, Britton said “There seems like there’s a jinx on us at the moment
“When it looked like things were coming back together then Ferrie Bodde was ruled out long-term and Joe Allen broke down.
“If it’s not one thing it’s another.
“We’re getting to the point where we’ll be back to almost full strength but it does seem like it’s taking forever.
“And you do worry that it might end up costing us because it’s been freakish with the number of injuries.
“But we have a big squad and we’ve held our own and we know we can be stronger when everyone’s back.
“So, even though we’re into double figures in the season I don’t think you can’t judge us.
“With the injuries we’ve had you can’t do that properly because we’re not at our full strength.
“But you can judge the direction we’re going in and I think everyone can see we’re not far away from everything really clicking for us.”
Britton is also in the middle of negotiations over a new contract and he added “There’s an offer on the table. I’ve spoken to the club about different things in the contract
“Now I’m waiting for the club to come back; the ball is in their court.
“We’ll see how things develop but I’m definitely happy at the club.
“There is a situation with me being away from my daughter, who lives in London and it’s difficult because I don’t get to see her as much as I would like. But my dream is still to play in the Premier League and I want to do that here.
“When talks drag on it can affect your form and perhaps it did in the past when kenny Jackett was manager.
“But I’m a little more experienced now than before. I know you have to concentrate on your football and I believe the rest will follow.”
