Britton: It’s Like There’s A Jinx On Us

The Swans midfielder was in good form yesterday as the team recorded another win by beating QPR 2-0 at the Liberty to enter the next international break in a decent position despite the injury problems that have beset them this season.

That jinx has accounted for Lopez, Allen, Pratley, Bodde and Britton himself already at some stage this season and that is just looking at what you would class as the leading 5 midfielders at the club.

Speaking to Wales on Sunday, Britton said โ€œThere seems like thereโ€™s a jinx on us at the moment

โ€œWhen it looked like things were coming back together then Ferrie Bodde was ruled out long-term and Joe Allen broke down.

โ€œIf itโ€™s not one thing itโ€™s another.

โ€œWeโ€™re getting to the point where weโ€™ll be back to almost full strength but it does seem like itโ€™s taking forever.

โ€œAnd you do worry that it might end up costing us because itโ€™s been freakish with the number of injuries.

โ€œBut we have a big squad and weโ€™ve held our own and we know we can be stronger when everyoneโ€™s back.

โ€œSo, even though weโ€™re into double figures in the season I donโ€™t think you canโ€™t judge us.

โ€œWith the injuries weโ€™ve had you canโ€™t do that properly because weโ€™re not at our full strength.

โ€œBut you can judge the direction weโ€™re going in and I think everyone can see weโ€™re not far away from everything really clicking for us.โ€

Britton is also in the middle of negotiations over a new contract and he added โ€œThereโ€™s an offer on the table. Iโ€™ve spoken to the club about different things in the contract

โ€œNow Iโ€™m waiting for the club to come back; the ball is in their court.

โ€œWeโ€™ll see how things develop but Iโ€™m definitely happy at the club.

โ€œThere is a situation with me being away from my daughter, who lives in London and itโ€™s difficult because I donโ€™t get to see her as much as I would like. But my dream is still to play in the Premier League and I want to do that here.

โ€œWhen talks drag on it can affect your form and perhaps it did in the past when kenny Jackett was manager.

โ€œBut Iโ€™m a little more experienced now than before. I know you have to concentrate on your football and I believe the rest will follow.โ€
