The Swansea City vice captain will be in action again on Saturday and relishing another derby clash against the Bluebirds.

And despite believing that Cardiff will go into the game as favourites, Tate says that the Swans deserve to be where they are and have already proved themselves by beating top teams already this season.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Tate said “I’d be surprised if there is anyone in the country that is more settled than I am here

“I’ve been here long enough to realise exactly what this means to everyone.”

Tate is remembered by Cardiff fans for ‘that’ flag incident at the Millennium Stadium back in 2006 and remembers his first visit to Ninian Park in the last derby of last season

“A lot was made of Ninian Park because it was said they wanted to get me up there for three years (since the flag incident),” says Tate. “But it was the other way around. I wanted to go up there.

“It wasn’t a case of intimidating me. It was me going there and showing I wasn’t afraid of it.

“The Evening Post gave me man of the match so I must have done okay.

“They have higher expectations placed on them by their board, so it’s up to them to deliver,” says Tate.

“They go into the game favourites due to their position in the league and the amount of money they have spent on players and wages. But we are not bothered by the amount of money they are spending.

“With the players and set-up we have got we deserve to be where we are, and the same for them.

“They are top scorers in the Championship and that is no fluke,” admits Tate. “It is up to us to keep to our game and cut out their chances.

“They have lost (Michael) Chopra through suspension, but they have Ross McCormack to come in and he is a full international with plenty of quality.

“But we hope we can keep solid at the back. We have shown that we can keep clean sheets against the best teams in this division and get results at difficult places.

“If we do that then we have players who will take their chances and go on to win the game.”
