Trundle Ready For His First Welsh Derby

The Swansea City striker was in the stands to watch Jordi Gomez hit home the only goal of the game to give the Swans victory in the Carling Cup but as the two teams prepare to meet for the first time this season, Trundle is dreaming only of playing the Gomez role and scoring the winning goal.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Trundle said “When Jordi Gomez scored I was dancing with the Swansea fans in the stand. I went absolutely crazy. It was a moment when my emotions just totally erupted.

“When I was sitting in the stand watching, I was jealous of the lads because this is a game I’ve always wanted to play in

“The atmosphere was unbelievable that night, it was really buzzing at the Liberty. And when the goal went in, wow, what a noise.

“To score the winner against Cardiff would be my best goal, no matter how it goes in,” said Trundle.

“This is the one I’ve wanted to play in since the day I walked into Swansea six years ago.

“I’ve heard all about the rivalry and how passionate the fans are about this game โ€” but it was something that eluded me before I moved.

“I’m very passionate myself and I can’t wait to be a part of the game.

“To come on at any time during this game would mean so much to me. I’ve played for Bristol City against Cardiff โ€” I actually expected to get a lot more stick in that game. But shouting abuse at me is not a problem.

“When opposing fans do that it is a good thing. You know that you are a threat and you should use it as a positive. In a way it is showing a little respect.

“But to run out in a Swansea shirt and play against Cardiff would be a dream come true.”
