“Model Pro” Trundle Looking To Impress Sousa

Swansea City’s leading scorer is hopeful of extending his Liberty stay at the end of the month and in a bid to impress Sousa he told the Evening Post

“I’m the lowest weight I have ever been and my body fat is lower than it’s ever been,” he says.

“I have been coming in early every morning, doing my weights circuit and some extra training.

“The fitness and the eating side are things I’ve looked into more as I’ve got older because I want to play football for as long as possible.

“I think my weight and the body fat show that the hard work I’m doing is paying off.

“Giggs is still going, and he’s doing it at the top level,” he points out.

“I want to keep playing, too, and hopefully the fact that I’ve knuckled down a lot and changed my lifestyle off the pitch will help me go on longer.

“It’s not as if I’m a player who had pace beforehand, has lost it now and lost my game.

“I never had pace in the first place and, as long as I keep working hard, I think I can go on playing for a good few years yet.

“There’s pressure on me,” he concedes.

“It doesn’t matter what I did before at this club, when I came back there was pressure because the management and the players have changed.

“It’s been a bit of a weight on my shoulders wondering what might happen, because it’s as if you are on trial every day. You can’t relax at any time, but it’s nice to have been on the pitch a little bit more recently and to have scored a couple of goals.

“It’s more than just a game of football when I go out there right now,” he adds.

“It’s about my livelihood, and it’s about staying at a club that I love.

“Every time I get on the pitch I’m playing with passion and I’m playing with my heart.”
