The Swansea City vice captain is never one to hide his true feelings after a game and his statement summed up what many were feeling after yesterday’s farcical decision to send off Albert Serran for a supposed elbow.

The red card left the Swans with just ten men for the remainder of the game and Tate told the BBC “Going down to 10 so early probably wasn’t a fair decision, the lad’s run into Albert.

“The ref said he’d elbowed him. It’s a strange one, only the ref can explain it.

“I have to be careful what I say but [Taylor] wasn’t great, it seems like we had 10 men playing against 12.

“It’s something we had to deal with and the whole team did well. We had chances with 10 men, I certainly feel we could have won with 11.

“We got a point when we shouldn’t have and that’s something all the lads can be proud of.

“We’re in the top six and that’s a great achievement but it means nothing if we’re not there at the end of the season.”
