Monk Thinks Trundle Has Done Enough

The Swansea City captain has watched the on loan striker score five goals in his loan spell from Bristol City with Trundle himself having made no secret of his desire to stay.

But having now seen the last of the matches of the original loan spell end on Monday, it is now down to the two clubs to make an agreement as to what happens next.

Monk though is in no doubt as to what should happen โ€œEveryone knows Trunds is a legend at this club โ€“ but heโ€™s had to start with a clean slate,โ€ said Monk in today’s Western Mail

โ€œHeโ€™s come here on loan and made no bones about the fact he wants to stay โ€“ and I think heโ€™s done everything asked of him.

โ€œHeโ€™s got five goals and you canโ€™t knock that, especially when most of his appearances have come off the subs bench.

โ€œBut I think just as important is the work heโ€™s put in since heโ€™s come back. Heโ€™s fitting straight into what weโ€™re trying to do as a squad and heโ€™s definitely got that hunger to do well.

โ€œHeโ€™s slimmed down a lot and heโ€™s probably the fittest Iโ€™ve ever seen him โ€“ you can see he really wants it and, if it does get agreed for him to stay on, then itโ€™s deserved.

โ€œHe really has got his head down since heโ€™s been here

โ€œHe certainly hasnโ€™t moaned because heโ€™s perhaps not started as many games as he would like, heโ€™s just waited for his chances and taken them.

โ€œIโ€™m sure now, if he knows his situation about his future, weโ€™ll see the best of him with that confidence back, while still having that hunger to make sure he stays for even longer.โ€
