Trundle Delight At Loan Extension

The Swansea City star had his loan spell from Bristol City extended until the end of the season by manager Paulo Sousa and he predicted great things for the club in the New Year.

Trundle has scored five goals since his return from Bristol City on loan and is Swansea’s joint leading scorer in a season where goals have been at a premium.

And with the player becoming a free agent in the summer, Trundle says he is already achieved one of his new year goals.

“It’s the start of a new year and a new decade and I’m where I want to be,” he told the Western Mail

“I for one can’t wait for it – but I think everyone connected to Swansea City can look forward to it.

“The side are definitely moving in the right direction and we’ve shown we can compete with the best in the Championship.

“But, when you think how the club has moved on in the past 10 years, it really makes you think what can be achieved in the next decade.

“When I first signed, the chairman told me of all his plans for the club, on and off the field.

“That was less than seven years ago – and, to be fair to him, it’s all come off. We’ve got a brand new stadium and we’ve gone from the bottom of League Two to the top of the Championship.

“But the club is still growing, the ambition is still here and supporters can be excited about the next few years. I am and hopefully I can be a part of it.

“If I think back to my best memories playing for Swansea, scoring the winner against Preston in the fourth round is up there,” said the Scouser on the 2-1 victory for Brian Flynn’s men five years ago.

“I think I scored in every round of the cup that year, apart from the fifth round when we got knocked out.

“It’s good to get the chance to be able to have another crack at the cup with Swansea.

“The cup holds good memories for me. but I want to create new ones and help the team be successful.”
