Bodde made his second comeback of the season in a reserve game last week and came through unscathed, scoring in a 2-1 win at the Gnoll against Bristol City.
The Dutchman has played just three times in 18 monthsย after rupturing his cruciate ligament in November 2008 against Birmingham City, and then suffering what was originally suspected to be a recurrence of the injury on his first start of this season against Sheffield United.
Thankfully though, the ligament didn’t snap a second time round, but it was discovered that the ligament hadn’t originally healed fully from the first injury, and the 26 year oldย needed to be brought slowly back to full fitness.
“He is ready to play, he is training with us every day,” said Sousa.
“Like at the rest of the squad and he can be in the first 11, but we will see what happens.
“We will think what is the best strategy [for Derby] and choose the best players to start the game against them.”
Undoubtedly, it would be a major surprise should Bodde feature against Derby on the weekend, but who knows what’s going through the mind of Paulo Sousa?
