The Swansea City striker has started the last two league games – his first starts of the New Year after a period of injury kept him away from the starting line up.

And, not surprisingly, the former West Brom man is only too happy to put that period behind him as he explained in an interview on the official website.

"The last couple of months have been really frustrating for me," explained Beattie.

"I got off to a good start when I moved from West Brom, which made it even more frustrating when I had to sit it out on the sidelines.

"But that's football for you. It has a habit of kicking you in the teeth.

"The boys have done really well without me though. I was pleased about that because they are a good bunch here. They made it really easy for me to fit in when I first arrived."

Beattie will be hopeful to line up against his former employers tomorrow after scoring the winner against them earlier in the season but he added there was no hard feelings when he moved to South Wales last year

"There was no animosity when I left and I wished them all of the best for the rest of the season,' he recalled.

"I wasn't playing for West Brom as often as I would have liked, so the reason I joined the Swans was for footballing reasons. I was still sad at leaving West Brom though.

"They were always going to be one of the favourites to go back up this season. They have a strong squad with quality players."
