The Swansea City midfielder was as shell shocked as anyone following the 5-1 mauling at Bloomfield Road but he called on his team mates to forget the result and concentrate on the job in hand – namely getting to the end of season play offs.
Britton told the Western Mail “We just need to wipe that from our memories straight away
We need to get back to training and pretend there wasn’t even a game on Tuesday.
“It was just one of those nights for us. You get them from time to time, once in a blue moon for us.
“I can’t remember a defeat like it since Reading last year. It was very disappointing, but these things happen to everyone and we won’t let it drag on.
“We are still in a great position. Obviously we haven’t picked up many points recently, but neither have the teams around us.
“That can’t go on indefinitely though. You can’t rely on other teams and we have to make sure we win our own games.
“We are in control of the situation at the moment. But we don’t want to be looking at other results on Saturday, we just want to make sure we do our bit.
“We know we have to give a massive reaction against Ipswich on Saturday. We owe that to the fans, especially the ones that went to Blackpool.
“For them to travel that way and see a performance like that is not acceptable.
“It’s difficult because this month has been very busy. We played Saturday, Tuesday every week. We have had a few injuries too which is always difficult.
“There are a lot of players out there playing with injuries and knocks too and, if everyone was fit, the gaffer would have probably changed things around a bit more.
“It is hard when there isn’t much recovery time in between games. But it starts to slow down after Ipswich and we can make sure we finish the season strong.”
