Van Der Gun netted the consolation goal on Tuesday night after an eventful night for him that saw him start the game at left back and gradually move up the pitch as the Swans fell further and further behind.
But it is the state of the pitches that has shocked him since arriving from Holland as he told the Evening Post
"The pitch was unbelievably bad on Tuesday and that surprised me because when I was in Holland, I always thought that in England the pitches are outstanding and we always look forward to playing here," he said.
"It's really annoying because we're a team that love to play football, but it's just not possible on these surfaces.
"It was my first time at left-back and it's never nice to try a new position when you get a result like that," he said.
"I only found out on the afternoon I'd be playing there, but I thought I did okay. I think it's a position I can play.
"If the gaffer needs me, it doesn't matter where he puts me, I will do my best.
"The main thing is the team getting to the play-offs. We've dropped too many points lately and that's unfortunate because I think we could have done a little bit better by now," he said.
"It's not like we're worrying, it's just that we could have made things a little bit easier. We're all focused on Saturday. I think Blackpool were a little bit fortunate in some situations.
"But on Saturday we can put things right and show that this was just one mistake."
