The Swansea City midfielder thinks that the spirit built up under Paulo Sousa will be enough to mean that the Swans put the late heartbreak at Cardiff behind them starting at home to Scunthorpe today.

Britton told the Western Mail “It’s obviously difficult to take and it’s hard because it’s not something we’ve had to go through before

“We’ve played Cardiff five times over the past 18 months and obviously this is the first time we’ve ended up losing a derby.

“And it’s obviously not very nice being on the receiving end for a change.

“The late goal makes it all the more sickening, but these things happen in football all the time. The fact is you just have to move on.

“The dressing room is obviously as down as you’d expect, especially after the way it’s happened.

“But we’ve got a good spirit through this side so it won’t last long.

“And with the Scunthorpe game it’s good to have a quick chance to put things right and show the spirit is there with us.

“If anyone was going to win it, it looked like it was going to be us,” said Britton.

“We had our chances too and Shefki looked as though he had scored with his header, but David Marshall has done well.

“And then it’s literally been a case of going up the other end to score.”
