The Swansea City goalkeeper has been on top form this season breaking the clean sheet record held by Roger Freestone with 23 clean sheets to date with three games left to go.
And that has prompted his manager to send a video to the Holland coach to see if De Vries can become a late addition to the Dutch world cup plans this summer.
Explaining his decision, Sousa said “I think he deserves recognition for what he’s done this year
“He’s a player who has grown this season. In my opinion, he’s one of the top five goalkeepers with his feet in the Premier League and Championship.
“He’s improved in set-plays, in his starting positions and he’s mature enough to handle a situation with the national team in the World Cup. It’s a big opportunity for Dorus and for Holland.
“And because I believe that I sent some homework to the Dutch coach and I’ll be happy to speak to him if he wants.”
