Ash – It Will Be A Tough Game

The Swansea City and Wales defender admits that there are other places he would rather play when points are so vital but is ready for that challenge as he told the Western Mail.

“You would probably rather play a different team if I’m being honest

“But that’s one of the challenges about this league.

“They are a physical team, everyone knows that about Sheffield United, but don’t be mistaken they have got some good quality footballers in their team as well. It is a massive club with a big stadium, they’ve been in the Premiership and they have a good crowd.

“It’s not a game that you look forward to because you know it’s going to be a tough game.”

The two sides met back at the Liberty in September with promotion a long way from the thoughts of most Swans fans – the team lay in 20th position back there but triumphed 2-1 in a fiesty encounter.

“It changed the season for everyone involved and it was a really important game." Williams said

“I remember after about 60 minutes the atmosphere with the crowd was not very good on that day and we were drawing 1-1, then Tom Butler popped up with an important goal.

“Before that game nobody would have put us in the position we are now, that’s what we all need to remember at times when we are being harsh on ourselves. We had a tough start but we are now in a very good position.

“It is going to be difficult on Saturday but we’ve been to places like West Brom and won, and we’ve beaten Sheffield United before, so we know it can be done.

“We’ve beaten teams at the top of the league, we’ve beaten physical teams this season.

“Sheffield is a massive game, they are a big team so we’ve just got to go up there and do our thing. We’ve won a lot of games away this season so we’ve just got to do it again.

“That’s the attitude we’ll be going with.”

The Swans take on the Blades at the same time as Blackpool travel to already relegated Peterborough with the Seasiders still two points behind the Swans thanks to their victory over Forest last weekend.   “It is a little bit disappointing. Once the gaffer spoke in the changing rooms (after the Barnsley game) someone had a check and everyone wanted to know the scores of the other games." Williams said looking back on last weekend's action

“It was disappointing but that’s what we expect.

“We are going out to win games and so is everyone else, but as long as we keep winning we will be OK.

“As I’ve always said, I would rather be in the play-offs than outside them chasing, so the pressure is on the other teams to get into those positions.

“We have been there for a long time and we deserve to be in the play-offs at the end of the season.

“Sheffield is a massive game but all the games are big now.”
