Trundle could make his second farewell to Swansea City on Sunday if results go against the side he rejoined on loan at the end of the August transfer window.
Five goals later and there is a degree of irony that it comes down to his parent club that the Swans need a favour from on Sunday if they are to extend their season into the play offs but Trundle insists that the players from Ashton Gate are up for their game at Blackpool on Sunday.
He told Wales Online “We were at the PFA awards on Sunday so I met up with some of the Bristol boys then, I had a good chat with them and you could see they were up for the game. It definitely didn’t seem like they were thinking about their holidays or anything like that. They want to finish on a high and, if that helps us, so be it.
“They were talking about Steve Coppell’s arrival too and, with him coming in, players will want to show him what they can do. If they are in the team on Sunday, they will want to prove they are worthy of staying there next season. With Coppell watching, people will be playing for their futures. That will be a big motivator and should hopefully work in our favour.
“It’s a big turnaround for me. But I’m still close with a lot of the lads there and I know they will give it a go.
“They won’t lie down for Blackpool. Hopefully they will do us a massive favour.
“I definitely think they have a team that is capable of winning up there. There’s quality running throughout the squad and, as well as having an experienced defensive base, they have someone like Nicky Maynard scoring plenty of goals up front.
“Nicky has been in superb form this season, probably the best of his career. Give him a chance and he will get you a goal.
“I was speaking to him at the dinner and he was really up for the game. Like any striker he wants as many goals as possible and Sunday is his last chance.
“We spoke to the Blackpool lads quite a bit as well,” he revealed. “But both sets of players tried not to talk about Sunday much.
“We are all pros and, although we are up against each other, there is a lot of respect on both sides. It’s not like there was lots of banter about it.
“They have been on a great run and you have to give them credit. We have had a great season as well and they showed us a lot of respect too.
“It’s sad that it has come down to the last game and things are no longer in our hands.
“But I’m sure there will be a few last twists and turns and hopefully a few will go our way. Then, if we did manage to get in the play-offs, the shock of dropping out like this could actually help us. It would be like a second chance and we would have to make the most of it.”
