The 22 year old striker passed away on Saturday leaving everyone at the club shocked and stunned by the news that reached them at the weekend.

And as a mark of tribute, the Swans have stated that they will retire Besian's number 40 shirt as a mark of respect to him.

A statement on the club's official website read "Swansea City will retire Besian Idrizaj's No 40 shirt in honour of the striker who sadly passed away on the weekend.

"The news comes on the day the 22-year-old will be laid to rest "where his roots were" in Kosovo, near the birthplace of his Albanian father.

"Besian passed away in his sleep while at home with his family in Linz, Austria, on the weekend with a suspected heart-attack."
