Britton is out of contract at Swansea City this summer and is a target for Wigan, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and the Swans amongst others as everyone waits for the midfielder to make up his own mind where his future lies.

However, his vice captain and long term friend Alan Tate – the only man at the club longer than Britton – says that everything is amicable and Britts will make up his mind when he is ready

"It's not for me to tell Leon what to do," Tate told the Evening Post.

"Obviously I would like him to stay with us. We've been through a lot together over the years and I hope that will continue.

"But Leon is big enough and old enough to make his own mind up and nobody else will be able to do it for him.

"If there is one thing I know about Leon, it is that he is very strong-minded, and when he does make a decision, that is what he will do.

"I wouldn't hold it against him if he goes, definitely not," Tate adds.

"We are all reading about Wigan and, if he gets the chance to go and try to prove himself in the Premier League, fair play to him.

"He doesn't owe us anything, just as the club don't owe Leon anything.

"He has been brilliant for Swansea and Swansea have been brilliant for him.

"That means that if he decides to go, the split will be on great terms."
