Speculation this summer has linked the Swansea City manager with a host of jobs and his future definitely appears unclear with very little of the speculation drawing comment from either manager or employer.
Hull City were the link on the weekend whilst as we reach midweek it is Panathinaikos – who reached the last 16 of the Champions League last season – who are reportedly interested in the Swans boss.
“Paulo is on the shortlist and will be given proper consideration,” a source told the Western Mail.
“If the board did decide to approach him, they would be able to make him a very good offer.
“He has exactly the sort of package they are looking for. He is a big name with experience at some of Europe’s biggest clubs and he is a figure that would please the fans.
“He has got contacts throughout Europe which is a big thing for this job. The board are looking for someone with stature and Paulo is still regarded as a superstar out here.”
The paper also reports that should Sousa be offered the job then he would be asked to work above coach Nikos Nioplias as the head of the football department and his main role would be to co-ordinate the club’s transfer dealings.
