The Swansea City defender has signed a new one year deal with an option for a further year beyond that which should see him remain at the club until 2012.
Serran has been at the club since being signed by Roberto Martinez in 2008 but has made just 19 league appearances in that time after a series of injuries and good form by others has kept him out of the team. He made 7 appearances last season and was sent off against Crystal Palace at the Liberty – a decision that enraged almost everyone that saw it.
The contract shows the manager's faith in the player who arrived from Espanyol and Serran will be hoping that he can use the period to establish himself as a first team regular for the Swans.
