Tisdale Turns Down Swans Approach

The paper reports that Swansea City made an official move for the Exeter boss yesterday on a day when their board said that they would not stand in his way should he wish to move on.

But – according to sources of the Western Mail – he has turned down their approach preferring to stay at Exeter and finish the job that he started at the club.

Turning down the move is now reported as leaving former No 2 Graeme Jones as the favourite to take over from Paulo Sousa who was officially unveiled at Leicester yesterday.   Jones is believed to be ready to step out from under the shadow of Roberto Martinez and make his own step into management with many already crediting him as one of the biggest reasons behind the success under Roberto.

Dean Holdsworth, Gary Speed and Chris Coleman also remain linked with the job.

“I am not going to comment on specific managers and I am not going to get involved in speculation about who is in or out,” said Jenkins.

“People have their own reasons for saying things though and you have to make you own decision about it.

“It’s about timing. It can be the right time for some but not others.

“What I will say is that I respect everyone’s right to have their say.

“I understand the position some managers are in and I can accept their decisions.

“We have had a lot of applications and a lot of phone calls. We always do.

“I could give you 50 names by the end of this process.

“But, at the end of the day, it comes down to one person.

“Then it’s about whether it is the right time for the person we want.

“There are a lot of factors to be considered."
