The Swansea City manager saw the perfect home start in the league for the Swans with a convincing 4-0 win and he was unsurprisingly delighted after the game.

"I thought it was a wonderful performance and display and a big, big credit to the players," Rodgers told BBC Sport Wales.

"They have taken on board all the things we've been doing in terms of our pressing and getting people into the box, and it was a near-on perfect performance.

"It's an offensive approach but always with discipline and I think what you saw was the goal scoring and the possession with the football and I think the intensity of our pressure allowed us to get into those positions."

Rodgers was also delighted with the performance of new signing Scott Sinclair "I think he settled very well," added Rodgers. "Him and Nathan Dyer were outstanding on both sides.

"I think the difference between 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 is you've got two wingers who can go on the attack, but they need to be high up the field… and you can see the threat that they are which is fantastic."
