Swansea City have failed to land some of their named targets both during the transfer window and since the loan window opened but Rodgers insists that does not worry him as he prepares his side for Saturday's trip to Leeds.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Rodgers said “It’s not a big concern. I don’t lay awake in bed every night worrying about bringing a striker in.
“The loan market is open now and that provides possibilities.
“We’ve also got some flexibility in the squad should anything happen to either Dobbie or Shefki.
“It does not concern me in the short term, but in the long term it is something I need to address.
“We are a club that does not have an unlimited budget,” said Rodgers.
“If the right player became available and they are there, even with a big squad I am sure that we would be able to bring them in. It’s not a closed shop.
“But I know we will need to do some work off the field to lighten the squad and that should allow us to bring people in.
“I want to work with a squad of 20-22 players and three goalkeepers. We are over that number already so I can’t continue to bring people in because it will overload the squad and I don’t want to do that.
“I am looking to build a squad for the next two or three seasons and everybody in the squad is not going to be able to play.
“As a manager, you are always aware when you come into a club you will inherit players and you will be looking to bring your own players in.
“I will always be honest with people who are not playing and let them know exactly where they stand on things.
“We are all professional and we know that’s the way it is. I will always respect players and speak to them first.
“I spoke to some players and told them they work very well and I respect their work, that they come in every day and give everything, but at the moment they are not going to play.
“They are either going to have to go out on loan or look elsewhere.
“Most footballers want to play football and if they are not playing they will want to move somewhere to get games.
“But these things do not happen overnight, it is something the club have to look at with the player and his agent.
“Clubs need to be prudent. They want to make sure they are bringing in players who are going to feature for them.”
