Rodgers – For 75 Minutes We Were Outstanding

The Swansea City manager was speaking after watching his side record their first league victory on the road not just of the season but their first since March.

And although it was nervy at the end as Watford pulled back from 3-0 down to 3-2, Rodgers felt that the points were deserved for his team when he reflected back on the game.

“I thought for 75 minutes we were outstanding. We were very good going forward, solid as a group and then obviously once Watford get the goal with 15 minutes to go you’re asked different questions,” Rodgers said after the game.

“But I thought we stood up to that very, very well.

“Of course, you’ve got to defend that many balls into the box and that many bodies in and around the box, it becomes a war and a battle, but we stood up to it and got the points which I thought was thoroughly deserved.

“The supporters were fine,” he added when asked about his reception from the Watford fans.

“The guys will tell you here I had a real close relationship with people – the media, the players, the people – so I understand the frustration,” he said.

“It obviously wasn’t as bad as it was maybe hyped up to be but that’s your job, but I’ve only got the greatest respect for them and this wasn’t any more special for me coming here to win against Watford because I’ve got a big affinity for this club and always will do.”
