Emnes signed a month long loan at Swansea City this week and former striker Rosenthal knows all about him through his work as a football ‘consultant’

Rosenthal told the Evening Post “Marvin is the kind of player that the crowd will like

“He has got fantastic stamina, he is tricky and he is intelligent.

“He is a player who is always looking to make things happen and of course he has pace.

“Hopefully he will have an impact at Swansea straightaway.

“My job in football is to discover players like Marvin, and I discovered him playing for Spartaย Rotterdam

“I recommended him to Middlesbrough and they eventually bought him.

“Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well because the timing wasn’t the best.

“Marvin was very young when he came over โ€” it’s not easy for a boy of 20 to come and make it straightaway in the first team, especially when the team are struggling like Middlesbrough were,” he went on.

“When you are in the Premier League, there is no time to settle. You need to produce immediately.

“But I think Swansea can be a great opportunity for him to show what he is capable of.

“I was the most expensive foreign player when Liverpool bought me, but two years later the manager changed and I wasn’t in the plans ofย Graeme Souness

“That can happen to any player when the manager changes, and Marvin has experienced that at Middlesbrough.

“But he wants to change things. He wanted to come out and play and he would be interested in staying at Swansea longer if they want him to.

“We hope Marvin will like the club and the club will like him,” Rosenthal adds.

“I am impressed with Swansea City.

“I have not been to Swansea before, but I have seen them, from nowhere, becoming an interesting club who are not far from reaching the play-offs for the Premier League.

“That means the people who are at the top of the pyramid at this club are doing a good job, and I can only congratulate them. We saw Blackpool get to the Premier League last season, and Swansea have the potential to do the same.”
