Burley – Swansea Are The Best Footballing Side

It has become a common comment in the past few years from opposing managers and George Burley was another name to add to the list after his side were beaten 3-0 by the Swans.

“We were eventually well beaten by the best footballing side we have had against us this season,” admitted Burley. “We knew how they would play so we tried to match them.

“At times they run us ragged as they passed and moved the ball well in the opening twenty minutes.

“We pressed them well at the start of the second-half and had two good opportunities to get back in the game. We didn’t take them and then they scored from a corner.

“We are lacking a few players and were second best and I can have no complaints about how the game finished.

“We struggled in midfield to contain them and they have a nucleus of a team that is looking to get promoted. What we had out there wasn’t strong enough to cope with them”
