Allen Looking To Remain Amongst Goals

The Swansea City midfielder scored his first goal for more than 18 months at Selhurst Park – the previous strike coming in the last ever South Wales derby at Ninian Park.

And as he looked forward to the next South Wales Derby on Sunday, Allen admitted he wanted to score more and also declared Sunday’s game as the biggest derby in recent times.

“My first is a very memorable one for obvious reasons and it’s been a long wait in between which is slightly disappointing,” he told BBC Sport.

“But hopefully this will give me the confidence to get on the score sheet a bit more often.

“The last couple of years it’s really come to note how well Welsh football is doing and both teams are progressing really well,

That’s going to add to the excitement of the game. I think it’s probably the biggest one in recent times and I’m sure it’s going to be great for both sets of supporters and players alike.”

The only downside of Saturday’s emphatic win was the fact that Darren Pratley picked up his 5th booking of the season against Palace meaning he will miss Sunday’s game and Allen added “It’s devastating for him, everyone wants to be part of the derby and he’s got a great track record in these games and he’s going to be a big miss for us.”
