Former Players On Derby Predictions

All four players were talking to the South Wales Evening Post

Andy Legg – “I’ve got to go with Cardiff because of the firepower they’ve got

“(Jay) Bothroyd and (Darren) Pratley are both huge losses to their teams.

“Pratley’s got a great engine and is always looking to get into the box.

“And Bothroyd’s important for Cardiff because it all comes through him.

“But if you look at Cardiff, they have other people who can come in like (Andy) Keogh.

“Pratley’s not as easy to replace for Swansea, so maybe he’ll be the bigger loss.”

Kevin Nugent – “I don’t know where my loyalties lie

“I’ve been fortunate enough to play for and captain both sides and I’ve never been a badge-kisser.

“I see it being a goalscoring draw, a really interesting game, probably 2-2. Cardiff have the home record and their goals against column is very good.

“That sets them up as marginal favourites, which they can use to their advantage.

“I’ve seen the clubs gradually progressing, and it’s a credit to both sides that they’re where they are now.

“Hopefully, both clubs will get into theย Premier League.”

Warren Feeney – “It’s a difficult one to call because both teams are flying at the minute

“Cardiff are scoring goals for fun and have probably got a better strike force than half the Premier League.

“Swansea are right behind them and seem to have got a steady team.

“I enjoyed my time at Swansea, but I was with Cardiff for a long time, and I can’t see them getting beaten.

“Swansea will have no fear, but I’m going 3-1 to Cardiff.”

Nigel Stevenson – “Sunday is a game between two in-form sides and I think it’s going to be a draw

“Pratley’s loss is disappointing because he’s a hugely influential player.

“I’ve seen Bothroyd in the derby last season, and he’s also influential for Cardiff.

“But I’m sure (Garry)ย Monkย and Williams could have kept him under wraps. I’ve been really impressed with them, not just lately but for a number of seasons.

“Swansea cannot give Cardiff too much respect.

“Players will go through their daily routine, they’ll probably get pats on the back in town wishing them well.

“Then when the coach gets near Cardiff they’ll probably be a few butterflies.

“But it’s important to treat it like any other game.”
