It’s not been an easy time for the Swansea City striker since moving to the club last year.
A succession of injuries have frustrated him and kept him on the sidelines preventing him getting what he thinks he needs in a run in the team.
But after starting on Sunday against Middlesbrough, Beattie hopes it is the first appearance of many.
“That’s what everybody wants,” he told the Evening Post.
“Football can be a fickle game, and particularly for me it hasn’t always happened that way.
“But a run of games is the plan.
“I am working ever so hard in training
“I am doing prehab and rehab โ I’m trying to keep my body in as good a condition as possible.
“It’s been a long time since I started in the league,” he says.
“It’s hard to explain how tough the last six months have been.
“I’ve worked hard to come back (following the calf problem) and I’ve had to be patient.
“It’s been very, very frustrating for me personally, but I got out there against Middlesbrough and put in a solid performance.
“Hopefully I did enough to keep the jersey for this Saturday.
“I’m not going to say I should be playing ahead of anybody โ who am I to say something like that when I have not played since March?
“I was flying in pre-season, but then I got injured and Dobbs has done fantastically well.
“He has scored a few goals this season, and so I’m just working hard and taking each game as it comes.”
