Keane Refuses To Blame Officials For Loss

All the talk on Sky Sports after the game was over Andy D’Urso’s refusal to give a penalty just before Craig Beattie’s second but Keane looked further into the game itself and blamed themselves for defeat.

“I’m not blaming the officials for the defeat,” Keane told the official Ipswich web site

“We were 1-0 up, had clear cut chances to make it two but we can’t seem to score two or three goals in a game.

“We should have killed the game off but then we let in a goal from another set-piece, and gave away another one when we tried to dribble the ball away from the goalline.

“We are not doing the basics right and if you give away goals and can’t score them at the other end, you are not going to go anywhere.

โ€œNo excuses. Weโ€™ve got to do better.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got no-one to blame but ourselves, in terms of our defending, the chances we missed and not dealing with the setback of their first goal.

โ€œTheir first goal was soft and the second was comical, but then Iโ€™m pretty sure I had the same conversation last week (after the defeat at Norwich).

โ€œItโ€™s like Groundhog Day. Weโ€™re doing the same things over and over again and Iโ€™m saying the same things over and over again.

โ€œI probably need to receive criticism and eight defeats in 10 games is unacceptable.

โ€œI bought players in the summer and I brought players here on loan.

โ€œThe official didnโ€™t cost us the result today.

โ€œLetโ€™s not try to find another excuse for us losing the match.

โ€œIt would be easy but it would be wrong.โ€
