Things never worked out for Lopez at Swansea City and finally yesterday the two parties came up with an agreement that meant Lopez left Swansea City six months before the end of his contract.

But Rodgers was quick to pay tribute to the player insisting that he was a good player who never gave him any problems.

“I would like to put on record my thanks to Jordi,” Rodgers told the Evening Post

“It has not been easy for him. He is a senior player and when you’re that age, you want to be playing regular football.

“But he had a number of injuries last season and hasn’t been able to get a regular spot this season.

“He is a good guy, though, and he hasn’t given me any problems.”
