Brendan – I Thought We Were Excellent

Swansea moved into 2nd place in the Championship table with the win – secured thanks to goals from Darren Pratley and a penalty double from Scott Sinclair.

And speaking after the game, Rodgers said “I thought we were excellent today, if you asked me the question whether I thought we could stay in the top two or top six, then the answer would be yes.

“If you asked me if I thought these players had the ability to challenge at the top end of the table, then the answer is yes again.

“We showed a lot of our traits today in front of the cameras. We attacked full of creativity and worked hard as a defensive unit.

“A lot of people talk about the possession we always have, but the big thing that doesn’t often get highlighted is the intensity of pressure we put on teams when we haven’t got the ball.

“We work hard as a team and that gets us the ball back quickly to go on the offensive again.

“The players deserve a lot of credit for the way they work. We’ve wonย four of our last six games now in all competitions and we’ve got all the top teams to play here. So it’s down to us.

“As I said it was an excellent performance against a difficult Palace side with some very good players. Credit to Crystal Palace, they worked hard today and made it difficult for us at times. I’ve got no doubt they will get out of the trouble they are in.”
