Freedman Acknowledges Difficult Game

The Crystal Palace manager made his managerial debut in the defeat to Swansea City and said after the game that things could have been so different had they not conceded just before the half time break.

“I know how hard this job will be, we are in the bottom three and have been there for most of the season. It is the most difficult challenge of my life.” he told their official website

“This was always going to be a difficult game considering the way Swansea pass the ball and where they are in the table. It was soul destroying to concede when we did at the end of the first half as we would have grown in confidence if we had held on to the break.ย  We created one or two opportunities in the second half but the penalties coming so close together meant it was game over.

“We played with a lot of confidence and it was a disciplined performance.

“I’m a very black and white person and straight down the line and, for large parts, the players stuck to the game plan.ย  I’ve no complaints about the penalties but, overall, I’m pleased with what the players took on board.

“Hand on my heart, and with the youngsters we have in the squad, we have a chance of winning more than we lose in the second half of the season as we have enough ability in this squad to keep us up”.
