A stoppage time winner rom Craig Beattie gave Swansea City an unlikely victory over their hosts and Rodgers said after the game "It's all about mental toughness,

"There are going to be games when we don't play well and we'll need to show character to get through – and today's reaction was fantastic.

"I spoke to the players in our team meeting before the game. We said that with 16 games to go there will be times when our character will be called into question.

"We spoke about the definition of mental toughness. And when we were 3-1 down our mental toughness was called into question;cc but we came up with the right answers.

"We won't always be able to play fantastic football, but that's when you have to grind out a result – which we did today.

"It took us until we were 3-1 down to really get going. We gave some poor goals away, but I've got nothing but tributes to pay to the players.

"We've played much better than that this season and lost or drawn. But I still thought we deserved the win.

"At 3-1 down you ask yourself as a coach do you leave it as it is and hope to get one back?'' added Brendan "Or do you change things and go for it?

"We did the latter and it worked because all three subs played their part – and that's what a squad is all about

"I thought we looked tired today up to the 55-minute mark. It's been a busy two weeks with the Leyton Orient game, Bristol City, Cardiff and international duty thrown in for a few of the players.

"The Cardiff game especially was a huge drain both physically and mentally. Last week was a bit broken up and I thought our performance was a bit broken as well.

"But it's still a massive result because it will give us great confidence to know that if we go behind in a game, we can come back.

"I can't see us having too many comebacks like that again though and I hope the supporters were proud of the team today. I certainly hope nobody left early when the score was 3-1"
