Britton Wants Liberty Sell Outs

The Swansea City midfielder was a late substitute in yesterday’s 3-0 win over Leeds United at the Liberty having rejoined the side last month from Sheffield United.

And as one of just three players in the current squad to have played for the club at the Vetch, he knows what atmosphere can be created and wants the Liberty to start matching that in the coming weeks.

โ€œThere have been a few amazing atmospheres at the Liberty, right up there with the best Iโ€™ve experienced at the club,โ€ Britton told Wales on Sunday

โ€œYou look at the Leeds game in League One and the derbies, to name a few, and itโ€™s been brilliant to play in.

โ€œBut, being honest, Iโ€™m not sure if the Liberty has matched the Vetch yet in that way.

โ€œI donโ€™t know whether itโ€™s the way the ground was, with the fans so close to the pitch, or the fact it was smaller and more intense.

โ€œBut, although a few games have come close at the Liberty, there was something special about the Vetch at times.

โ€œThere were a lot of bad days at the Vetch, like when I first joined and it was hammering with rain.

โ€œWe were 3-0 down to Bury at half time and there were about 2,000 in the ground.

โ€œBut you remember the good times and thereโ€™s a chance for us to create some great new memories at the Liberty between now and the end of the season.

โ€œOur attendances have been okay but it would be great to sell the place out every week.

โ€œI think everyone here understands itโ€™s difficult in the current climate to find money for tickets at times.

โ€œBut hopefully people can see the position weโ€™re in and create something special like we did at the Vetch.

โ€œAnd as much as we all loved the Vetch, the Liberty is our home now and we have a chance to make some fantastic days there.

โ€œSome may see it as a tough run-in, but we look at is an opportunity to take points off our rivals and push on ahead of them.

โ€œThey have to come to us, where our record has been fantastic.

โ€œWe have a chance to do something special and going back to the Vetch underlined that for me.

โ€œIt was the first time Iโ€™d gone back there since the Wrexham game and it was very strange going around the place.

โ€œBut it just showed how far weโ€™ve come. Itโ€™s easy to forget that.โ€
