Rangel – Nobody Is Blaming Ash

The Swansea City defender watched on as Williams' back pass gave Derby County the lead at Pride Park and was a factor in the winless streak stretching to a third game.

But – as Rangel points out – the defeat was not solely down to the early error and points out that the Swans also had their chances to come away with all three points from the game.

"It was a game we should have won because I don’t think they’re a better side than us, but obviously the first goal dictated a lot of the game,”Rangel told the Western Mail

“It was a very bad thing to happen early on, but it made for a fantastic game and you can’t do anything about it.

“No-one’s blaming Ash, these things happen and it could have happened to anyone else. It could have come from a mistake, from a set-piece.

“Ash was very disappointed and very sad, but these things happen in football and he’s been one of the most consistent players in the team so far who has been great all year.

“No-one expected that and Ash didn’t expect it, it was just an unfortunate pass.

“But we had chances and Dobbie and Ash both hit the bar.

“It’s not about blaming someone.

“When the team loses the whole team loses and it’s the same when we win.

“We should have scored more goals and the first goal we shouldn’t have conceded as a team.

“We are a team and everyone is fighting for each other.

“We’ll play game by game and we’re going to fight to the end for promotion.

“We’re obviously gutted at the result, but we have another game and we have to take things match by match.

“There’s still 27 points to play for so we’re going to fight until the end.

“We are not tenth; we’re still up there and there are a lot of games to play.

“If we had won at Derby we wouldn’t have gone up and we are not now out of things.

“I thought we played well and kept going, but we wanted the win and points are the important things at the moment.

“But we’re 100 per cent confident because we’ve got a lot of games at home and we want to win them.”
