Rodgers – I Am Proud Of My Team

The Swansea City manager said after the game We have put ourselves in a great position and I’m confident a good performance at home will see us through

“I don’t mean any arrogance saying that but we have been strong at home this season and the 20,000 fans we will have packed to the rafters will sound like 50,000.

“You could sense they were disappointed and frustrated but Forest have been scoring goals for fun and they won their last away game 3-0, so we know it’s not going to be easy.

“We are delighted with the way we played but it counts for nothing if we don’t perform on Monday.

“Neil’s in shock but he’s apologised to the rest of the lads in there

“I can see why he (Dean) has given it. Neil has gone in stretching and even though he’s not made total contact with McGugan he’s caught him.

“The emotion of the game and the crowd can influence the referee but I thought Mike Dean was excellent.

“Neil has to learn from that and move on.

“I’m very proud of the team because I knew it was going to be an emotional game, but to lose a man after 50 seconds is incredible.

“We had to sacrifice some of the things we do but Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer were terrific.

“I felt for Stephen Dobbie because we had to reshuffle but we kept to 4-2-3 and were dangerous on the counter attack.”
