Britton told the official Swansea City website "As footballers you sometimes forget how many sacrifices supporters make for their club,'' explained Britton. "But having been at the club for so long, I know how much the Swans means to them.
"The supporters were one of the reasons I was so desperate to come back 'home' to Swansea in January and why I left West Ham way back in 2003.
"They were the best then and they are still simply the best. Their passion is unbelievable – and patience.
"Despite having to queue so long for tickets yesterday they were still full of enthusiasm for the Swans and you could see how much the trip to Wembley meant to them.
"I did have to take a bit of stick for the last two goals I've scored though. I know a goal from me is rare, but I had to remind them that I used to be a winger!''
