And the Swansea City manager has turned his attention immediately to trying to secure the futures of three key out of contract players.
Darren Pratley, Dorus De Vries and Angel Rangel are those players and Rodgers told the Western Mail “I have had a meeting with the chairman to talk about our plans and the first one is to secure the players who are out of contract.
“The most important objective for me is to try to keep Dorus, Darren and Angel.
“The three lads will need to go away and reflect on where they are at.
“They will all have offers to consider, but hopefully the fact that we are coming into the Premier League will give us a great chance of keeping them.
“Dorus has been the top keeper in the Championship and that’s partly because of our style.
“If he goes somewhere else, you may see 50 or 60 per cent of his qualities because nine-out-of-ten teams will not build from behind.
“Dorus is important to us, as are Angel and Darren.
“I think Darren will be really, really valuable going into the next level because he has physical attributes which will be important.
“We’re going to a level where I have worked for four-and-a-half years, so I know it’s all about having the pace, the power and the strength to compete.”
