Pratley confirmed that he would leave Swansea City this summer with Bolton Wanderers his likely destination on a reported wage of £17k per week.
And speaking to the Evening Post, Rodgers said "I am disappointed that I am losing a very good player
"But I would say to every Swans supporter that if he ever comes back to the Liberty, they should give him the biggest round of applause because he is a good guy and he gave his all for this football club.
"I had a good relationship with Prats and I admire his professionalism
"It was really, really difficult for him this season because of the contract situation and I think he would probably tell all other players that it's not a situation he'd like to be in again.
"But he came in every day and he gave his best for the club and for the group. Other players when they were out of the team might have sulked and might not have given their best but he always did.
"As I said to Darren when I spoke to him this week, no matter what happens we will always have something special in our memories from this season and he will always have a great connection with Swansea City.
"I am disappointed I couldn't keep him but I understand his reasons. We move forward and I wish Darren all the best"
