Senna looks set to snub Swansea City and other interested Premier League clubs to stay in Spain.

Senna said  "Last Friday, after the gala dinner before the Formula 1 race, I had a relaxed conversation with the chairman and the coach

"The will of both parties is to continue together and there are only very small differences separating us at this moment."

The Brazilian-born midfielder, who was speaking at the launch of a football tournament designed to raise proceeds for his own personal foundation, wants to stay with Villarreal and believes that he will sign a new deal in the not too distant future.

"Following the informal meeting, the president's son told me he would contact my agent on Monday. I am optimistic that we will soon reach an agreement."

"I have been here a long time. I want to stay at Villarreal for many years…well at least for one year."
