Rangel “Delighted” With New Swans Deal

Rangel put pen to paper on a new Swansea City deal this week – electing not to follow Darren Pratley and Dorus De Vries out of the exit door on the expiry of his previous deal.

And he says that there was no doubt in his mind that he wanted to stay and test his ability for the Swans in the top flight following their play off final win.

Speaking to the Western Mail, Rangel said “Of course, the Premier League is a massive challenge

“But we have overcome big obstacles since I have been here. We were told we couldn’t play our way out of League One – but we won the title.

“We are not just going to the Premier League to enjoy one season. We want to be a regular part of the league and show what Swansea City is all about.

“I’m delighted to have agreed a new contract.

“From the moment I started talking with the chairman, he knew that I wanted to sign.

“I want to thank the chairman and manager too, because they have made me feel wanted – that is very important for a player.

“I believe in what they want to achieve and these are exciting times.

“Myself and the club have made massive strides in the past few seasons, and now we are focusing on the Premier League.

“There was interest from clubs in the past who were in the Premier League, and I must admit I got a little frustrated with things.

“That was because I had such a big desire to play in the Premier League. It is where you want to be.

“But I didn’t let it affect my performances and I gave 100% to help the club.

“Now we have got to the Premier League together and I am delighted with that. That is very, very satisfying.

“I really love it here in Swansea. Myself, my partner Nikki and our two boys love the area, so we are very settled.

“When I arrived here I wanted to be part of a club that had big plans to play in the Premier League, and now we have accomplished that,” added Rangel.

“We have done things the right way. We play the right style and the squad enjoys it.

“It is great for the supporters too. Last season they saw the club sign Scott Sinclair, and we all know what he did throughout the season and at Wembley.

“And this season we have already shown our intent by breaking the club transfer record for Danny Graham.

“So we are very excited to be heading into the Premier League.

“Playing the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool is huge for the club. Not just the players and the staff, but the fans.

“They deserve Premier League football, because they are great fans. Everyone stops you in the street to talk about the Swans and how well we’ve done to get to the Premier.”
