The Swansea City manager saw his first choice goalkeeper depart for Wolverhampton Wanderers last week leaving him on a hunt for a new goalkeeper ahead of their first season in the Premier League.
And Rodgers said “Dorus was obviously a big part of my plans and I am surprised and disappointed that he’s gone
“I was led to believe the negotiations were going well, but he has decided to go and be a No 2 goalkeeper in the Premier League rather than a No 1 goalkeeper in the Premier League.
“I think we have seen already that we are going to a new level in the Premier League in terms of gossip and rumour,” he said.
“We have been linked with all sorts of keepers, for instance, who are just not in my thinking.
“There is a whole media circus which comes with being in the Premier League and it has been incredible reading about some of the players we are supposed to have made bids for.
“I have spoken to players and we have bids in for players and there will be movement between now and the end of August.”
