The Swansea City manager confirmed that Fulham boss Martin Jol has told him that Stockdale is likely to go elsewhere and it is reported that either Leeds United or Ipswich Town is his likely destination.
The stumbling block for the deal was that Fulham are wanting Stockdale to be on a 24 hour loan recall agreement which is not possible between two Premier League clubs.
Brendan told the Western Mail “David Stockdale was one that we were monitoring closely, but he wasn’t the only one,
“David will probably go into the Championship on loan. So that won’t happen, purely because of the recall thing.
“I had a good conversation with Martin Jol and we would have liked him to come here because his development would have gone on but they have got to think tactically about whether they would need him back.
“He will go elsewhere. An offer has gone in for Lee Camp as everyone knows and it’s between the two clubs now.
“So I’m not concerned. Obviously teams will be bringing in lots of players because they have to bring in lots of players.
“There is a need to bring in five or six here and we have already brought a few. Any players that come in will just give us that bit of depth.
“We’ll get that done in the next couple of weeks.
“I know what my targets are and I have spoken about them with the club. I hope then that the club can close them out.
“Of course you want your faces in sooner rather than later but that will get done.
“I’ve had a good meeting with the chairman and I hope that we can do that over the coming weeks. But the core of our group we already have here.”
