Britton – Everyone Is Fighting Hard

Britton knows that everyone wants to be part of the Swansea City side in the Premier League and that is making for intense competition in training as the team prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

Speaking to the Western Mail, Britton said “Everyone wants to play, it’s as simple as that. No-one is guaranteed a place and players are fighting hard for places because they want to be in the Premier League.

“You can see that competition coming through in training.

“The manager is not going to pick people on reputation, we know it is going to be what happens in training.

“It’s going well. The fitness in general is good. We’ve worked really hard, a lot of double sessions every day.

“It’s been a very intense week of training and we finished it off well with a nice game against Afan Lido.

“We are looking forward to getting to Austria and getting into camp.

“The training is really high tempo and the boys are looking really sharp in training. The only thing we need is games to get that match sharpness.

“I remember when I first signed we were preparing for Bury at home.

“So it’s a bit of a different build-up now.

“Every year you have a nice break, but then look forward to coming back. Being in the Premier League is extra special for the boys.

“It’s a special time for the club and we are looking forward to it.

“There is a great competition for places and all the lads are working hard in the squad.

“As soon as that game finished at Wembley, everyone was buzzing and waiting for the new season to start.

“I was happy with how things went at the end of last season, I found my scoring boots after about eight years, but it is a new season and I have to start again.

“You can’t rely on what happened last year, no-one can, you have to work hard and make sure you get a place in the starting XI.”
