Rodgers will lead Swansea City into the first game of their Premier League season having seen their opponents – Manchester City – just splash £38m on striker Sergio Aguero.
Couple that with a £200,000 weekly wage and you see the gulf between the two sides in terms of what we pay and what they think nothing of paying.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Rodgers said "Manchester City are at a level now where they are competing at the cutting edge of the game,
"They are a superpower in European football — they are in the market for all the top players in the world and Sergio Aguero is certainly one of them.
"It's an interesting dilemma now for Mr (Roberto) Mancini as far as who to pick goes."
Rodgers watched City's friendly against LA Galaxy on television last weekend.
"I had my notepad and pen," he said, "and it's frightening when you look at the talent they have got.
"It's a different pressure they face — they are at the top end of the game and they have world-class players throughout the group."
