Scott Sinclair says that he is ready for the step up to the Premier League
Sinclair was top scorer for the Swans last season with an impressive tally that included three in the play off final win over Reading at Wembley.
And he will look to continue that form in the Premier League with the wide man insistent that he is ready for the step up into the big time.
“I’m definitely ready to make the step up,” he said.
“Those games I played in the Championship last year have got me ready to come back to the Premier League. I’m ready for the challenge.
“I’m just going to approach things in the same way I always have.
“I’m not changing, I said last season I go into every game looking to score and I see no reason to change that attitude now.
“I’ve never questioned my ability to play the game.
“The fact that people see us as underdogs, that we are going to lose every game and get relegated straightaway, does spur you on a bit.
“I personally believe we are going to add something different to the Premier League and shock a few people along the way.
“People seem to be writing us off before we’ve even played, but the style we play might surprise a few.
“Everyone’s excited we are there, but we need to take things one game at a time and play our normal game.
“You can be at Chelsea with the best players in the world, but there’s only so much you can learn from the outside,” he said.
“You had to be established to get a game at Chelsea. You sometimes got one game to prove yourself, so if you made a mistake you never got the chance to learn from it because you weren’t playing in the next one. I just got old enough in the end to say ‘this is the time to go.
“If they can gel quickly enough they might have a shot at the Premier League title,” added Sinclair.
“But if you look over at United and see what Sir Alex Ferguson has been doing for years and years now, I think it’s going to be quite hard for City to wrestle it from them.
“I’m not sure really there’s any good or bad time to be playing one of the big teams.
“We are playing them first and it will be good for us to see what the top teams have got. We must make sure we put in a good performance.
“I’m not sure Manchester City have a weakness really. They have spent a lot of money on some very good players.
“But if they think they only have to turn up to get a result then they are going to get a game.
“People expect us to go there and struggle, but we’ve got no pressure on us.
“We can play our game and try to get something. We are not going to go there and settle for what we’re given.
“It’s good to be the underdogs.”
